📜 ""May he grant your heart's desires and make all your plans succeed.""
Psalm 20:4 (NLT)
📋 Our hearts have many desires. Desires are the things we long for, the things we wish we could have, the suitable answers to our needs or what we aspire to become in life. In today's base text, David prays, "May he grant your heart's desires and make all your plans succeed."
We surely want God to grant our heart's desires, so we often petition God concerning them with high expectations. God does grant the desires of the hearts of his children. But there are conditions that we need to meet in order to receive favourable response from our Father when we approach him with our heart's desires.
First, what we desire must be in line with his will and purpose for us. The Apostle John declares: "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us" (1 John 5:14).
Second, we need to delight ourselves in the Lord as we are admonished to do in Psalm 37:4: "Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.?"
Third, if our desires will do good to others, God will grant them. Hence, the Apostle prays: "... we constantly pray for you, that our God may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith" (2 Thessalonians 1:11, NIV).
