📜 ""So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.""
Romans 6:11 (NLT)

📋 We are made alive in God through Christ. In Romans chapter 5, Paul indicated that God is so gracious that the more sinful humans became, his grace increased in measure.

Then in verse 1 of today's reading, he asked: "Should we continue to sin so that grace may abound?" The answer is no! We are dead to the law of sin and death, yet alive to the law of the Spirit of life and grace.

This does not make us slaves to sin any longer. A slave is a person who does not have the freedom to do what he desires to do. Slaves are controlled by their masters. But we are free from the power of sin. We have been released to do God's will As disciples of Jesus, his will becomes ours.

Grace is God's strength available for those who are weak and underserving of it. The increase of sin brought a bigger need for salvation. Jesus came to die to save us from sin and to give us a new life. Being dead to sin means that we are no longer attracted to sin and so we must not allow sin to control us. We are rather under the law of freedom to do God's will.

Are you alive to God and dead to sin?

🔑 Key Lesson: God's grace is not a license to engage in sin.

🛐 Meditation and Prayer: Lord, I thank you for your grace. Help me to live according to the law of grace in Jesus's name.
