📜 ""Keep your servant from deliberate sins! Don't let them control me. Then I will be free of guilt and innocent of great sin.""
Psalm 19:13 (NLT)
📋 It is dangerous for a Christian to keep on sinning deliberately. The world, the flesh and the devil conspire to make us sin. but we must be very alert and decide ahead of time not to sin deliberately because willful sins have grave consequences.
Hence, we are warned in Hebrews 10:26-27 against deliberate sinning: "If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God."
Judgment and punishment are awaiting those who choose to sin willfully. People who sin intentionally often become slaves to sin. David knew how dangerous it is to sin deliberately, so he prayed: "Keep your servant from deliberate sins! Don't let them control me. Then 1 will be free of guilt and innocent of great sin."
He didn't want deliberate sins to have dominion over him. He understood that by avoiding these sins, he would "be free of guilt and innocent of great sin." We too need to pray this prayer often so that God will enable us to avoid deliberate sins.
This way, we will not suffer the judgment and punishment that will come upon those who claim to be God's children but continue to sin willfully.
Sinning deliberately is very dangerous; avoid it.
