📜 ""I have no one else like Timothy, who genuinely cares about your welfare. All the others care only for themselves and not for what matters to Jesus Christ.""
Philippians 2:20-21 (NLT)
📋 It is possible to claim to be a follower of Jesus and not be committed to the cause of Christ. because it is natural for us, as humans, to look out for our own interests. But as Jesus' disciples, we ought to pursue what matters to our Master.
In today's reading, we see the worthy examples of Timothy and Epaphroditus, who demonstrated their commitment to the cause of Christ. The Apostle Paul gave appreciative testimonies about these young men. About Timothy, he wrote: "I have no one else like Timothy, who genuinely cares about your welfare. All the others care only for themselves and not for what matters to Jesus Christ."
Timothy proved his commitment to the cause of Christ by loving the brethren genuinely and by preaching the Gospel (v. 20-22). Epaphroditus also showed his genuine interest in what matters to Christ by serving the Lord wholeheartedly.
Paul testifies: "...he risked his life for the work of Christ, and he was at the point of death while doing for me what you couldn't do from far away" (v.30). We also need to emulate the shining examples of these young men by pursuing what matters to Christ. He wants us to love others, preach the Gospel, etc.
