📜 """... make my joy complete by being like minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.""
Philippians 2:2 (NIV)

📋 It pleases God when there is unity among his people. Our Lord Jesus prayed for unity among believers: "... Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one" (John 17:11).

The Apostle Paul also exhorts God's people to demonstrate unity among themselves. For instance, in today's focus texts, he urges unity when he writes: ".. make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind."

It is beautiful and honouring to God when believers live and work together in unity. Where there is division, quarrelling or factions, the name of the Lord is brought into disrepute and there cannot be any healthy church growth.

To avoid this, Paul encourages us to be like-minded. This is possible when we are seriously committed to living according to God's will as revealed in his word. Besides, Paul says we should have the same love. He has the love of God in mind--the love that is patient and kind and shows tolerance and forgiveness.

Also, there will be unity among us if we are "one in spirit and of one mind." We need to have the mind of Christ, demonstrating a spirit of humility towards one another.
