👉🏼 (Reading: Psalm 16:4-11)
📜 ""LORD, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine""
Psalm 16:5 (NLT)
📋 As Christians, it is wise for us to look to God as our portion. All born-again believers are God's children and are therefore heirs of God (Romans 8:17). So God is our inheritance. David understood this so he declares: "LORD, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing.."
David resolved not to "chase after other gods" (v.4). Looking to God as his portion, he saw him as his cup of blessing. He expresses his delight in his wonderful inheritance, saying: "The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance."
Leaning on God's wisdom, David received wise counsel from God for which he praised him (v.7). He depended on God as his only portion, so he always fixed his eyes on him and therefore had the confidence to boast in the Lord, saying: "I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken" (v.8).
Is God your only inheritance?
Have you given him your total commitment?
Do you depend totally on him?
Those who have made God their sole portion, trust him for everything. Like David, let's also make God our only inheritance so that we too can affirm: "Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God" (Psalm 20:7).
Have you made the Lord your only portion?
