👉🏼 (Reading: Zechariah 13:1-11)

📜 ""And I will put this third into the fire, and refine them as one refines silver, and test them as gold is tested. They will call upon my name, and I will answer them. I will say, They are my people'; and they will say, The LORD is my God""
Zechariah 13:9 (ESV)

📋 We are often tempted to side with the world in which sinful practices are lifestyles upheld by many. It is very easy to be captured by the spirit of the times.

The term remnant describes those who remain loyal, faithful and pure after many have fallen away to evil or those who escape the slavery of an oppressor. In our text, that was the case in the Prophet Zechariah's time.

Judah had left God's ways and many of them became candidates of God's wrath. In our focus verse, the Prophet says, God will test and refine those few (one third) who hold on to the will of God.

We must strive to remain people of God although the world is drifting away towards sinful ways. We must not bow to the idols of our day. There is still a reward kept for those who do not defile themselves with the profanity of the day. Do not give new names to sin and redefine them.

God wants his children to remain loyal, faithful and holy for his name's sake.
Be one of the remnants.

🔑 Key Lesson: We must be part of the few who refuse to follow the majority in their sin.

🛐 Meditation and Prayer: Lord, strengthen me by your word and Spirit to remain a faithful, loyal child of yours in this crooked world.
