📋 There is no-one who doesn't have enemies; even our Lord Jesus had many foes. Our enemies are people who hate us and are ready to kill us or harm us physically, spiritually, socially, etc. David had his share of enemies, some of whom were powerful people.
King Saul was one of such enemies; he was all out to ill David. This powerful enemy employed all the state resources at his disposal and chased David from place to place, determined to slay him. But David knew what to do: He sought divine protection because he knew God as his protector. He declares: "The LORD is my rock … my savior; my God… in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety" (v.2).
He trusted God to rescue him. God didn't disappoint him; he shielded him and rescued him. So David celebrates this victory when he writes: "I called on the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and he saved me from my enemies… He rescued me from my powerful enemies, from those who hated me and were too strong for me."
Your enemies are bent on destroying you, but don't be afraid.
Cry out to God; he will rescue you.
