📜 ""I am praying to you because l know you will answer, O God.
Bend down and listen as I pray""
Psalm 17:6 (NLT)
📋 When we pray to God, we can expect an answer because he has promised to answer us. David understood this well, so in today's focus verse, he declares: "I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray." He was praying with knowledge.
We also need to know that God will answer our prayers. But often, when we pray about an issue for some time and do not receive any answer, we give up praying. Our Lord Jesus taught us to persevere in praying, when he gave us the parable of the persistent widow in Luke 18:1-8.
The widow received an answer because she persisted in her petitions. Jesus concluded by saying: "And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?" (v.7).
We too need to learn to persist in praying to God concerning our needs and challenges until we receive answers to our requests. This calls for knowledge and faith. We need to know and believe that God is faithful and will answer us if we pray according to his will.
This is the assurance Jesus gives us: "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer" (Matthew 21:22).
Do you know and believe that God will answer your prayers?
