📋 In human relationships, disagreements or conflicts are inevitable because of various factors, such as differences in temperaments, cultural background, parental upbringing, religion, gender and personal convictions.
Marred relationships can negatively affect our relationship with God. Therefore, we must not allow conflicts between us and others to linger, but resolve them as soon as possible.
The Apostle Paul knew the importance of resolving conflicts among us as believers. So he appealed to two sisters in the Philippian church to resolve their differences: "Now I appeal to Euodia and Syntyche. Please, because you belong to the Lord, settle your disagreement."
Those in Christ ought to learn to settle their conflicts promptly because this is what our Master commands us to do: "… if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift" (Matthew 5:23-24). Besides, the word of God exhorts us to pursue peace: "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone" (Romans 12:18).
However, there are some members of our congregations who have unresolved conflicts with others. This is unhealthy for our relationships as God's children.
