📜 ""Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervour, serving the Lord.""
Romans 12:11 (NIV)
📋 God called us to a heavenly and holy mission to serve him on earth. We answered this call when we gave our lives to God through faith in Christ Jesus. However, we must remember that we are not called to serve God anyhow. God requires us to approach our worship with seriousness and fervency.
As our focus verse states, we must "never be lacking in zeal, but keep (our) spiritual fervor, serving the Lord." God desires us to be passionate and fervent in spirit as we serve him. He does not accept those who are lukewarm, lazy, or indifferent about spiritual matters; God cannot work with such people.
We need to keep our spiritual fire burning by being zealous for God. The practices, that can help us to achieve this, are engaging in reading the Bible, prayer, fasting, and embodying his word in our daily lives.
If we neglect these spiritual exercises or do them without joy, our enthusiasm for the Lord will diminish, leading to a loss of spiritual fervour that could extinguish our inner fire. If we lose our fervency and zeal for the Lord, we have fallen short of God's standard for the posture we need to serve God the right way.
Are you zealous for the Lord?
Is your spiritual fervour ablaze?
