📜 ""But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple.""
Psalm 5:7 (NIV)

📋 The God we worship is the Lord Almighty, the Maker of heaven and earth. He is the holy One who lives in unapproachable glory. The Apostle Paul describes him as "the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God .." (1 Timothy 1:17).

We must, therefore, honour this awesome God and approach his majestic throne in humility and reverence. David knew the glory and splendour of this God and therefore worshipped him with the right attitude. In today's anchor verse, he states: "But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple."

We were once wretched sinners, but out of his great love and rich mercy, God saved us through Jesus. By this amazing love we can approach God at the throne of grace with confidence.

However, we must be careful not to approach God carelessly, rudely and jokingly. David says, "The arrogant cannot stand in your presence" (v.5). We need to bow down before this great King in meekness, deep respect, wonder and worship.

We are blessed if we pay attention to the admonition in Hebrews 12:28: "Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe."

Do you "worship God acceptably with reverence and awe?"
