📜 ""Know that the LORD has set apart his faithful servant for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him.""
Psalm 4:3 (NIV)
📋 When God's faithful servants pray to him, he answers them. Knowing that God answers his righteous servants, David petitions God: "Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God… have mercy on me and hear my prayer" (v.1).
He even testifies about his own experience with God in today's focus verse: "Know that the LORD has set apart his faithful servant for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him."
However, David also knew that there are hindrances to prayer; one of them is sin. So he admonishes us to avoid sin: "Tremble and do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts ." (v.4).
The writer of Psalm 66 declares, "If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened" (v.18). To receive answers to our prayers, we must do away with our sinful ways. Besides, we ought to pray according to God's will.
The Apostle John affirms this in 1 John 5:14 when he writes: "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
