👉🏼 (Reading: Psalm 3:1-8)
📜 ""LORD, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! Many are saying of me, 'God will not deliver him.""
Psalm 3:1-2 (NIV)
📋 All of us have enemies. Our enemies are those who hate us, oppose us, fight against us, wanting to kill or destroy us. The writer of this Psalm David had many enemies, including his own son Absalom. His foes were saying, "God will not deliver him."
They had this false hope that they would defeat David, thinking that God would not rescue him from their hands. But David knew God as his shield. deliverer and protector, so he declared: "But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high… From the LORD comes deliverance ." (v.3,8).
David was sure of God's deliverance so he was not afraid: he stated: "I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side" (v.6). He knew what to do in order to experience supernatural deliverance; he declares: "I call out to the LORD, and he answers me from his holy mountain" (v.4).
We too can escape from the attacks of evil enemies if we know God personally as our refuge, shield deliverer and protector. Just as David did when many enemies rose up against him, we too can cry out to God when we are under attack from our wicked foes. David prayed: "Arise, LORD Deliver me, my God! .." (v.7).
Are you under attack?
Cry out to God; he will deliver you.
