1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 (NLT)
📋 It is God's will for us who belong to Christ to give him thanks in whatever situation we find ourselves. But this is not easy, naturally speaking, because certain situations are very painful and overwhelming.
Giving thanks in such circumstances is the last thing that we can think of. But God knows that the key to enduring such difficult situations is giving him thanks. How can we heed this admonition to thank God in all circumstances?
First, we need to know and believe that ", in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28). Our part is to sincerely love God and he will take care of everything.
Second, we ought to understand that God has power to work out "everything in conformity with the purpose of his will" (Ephesians 1:11). His purpose for our lives will stand, no matter what we face in life.
Third, we must resolve to heed the admonition in Philippians 4:6: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."
We can experience God's amazing peace even in our very difficult circumstances when we petition God and thank him by faith for what he has done.
