1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 (GNT)
📋 God has not only called us to be holy, he has also commanded us to be holy in all we do: "But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: 'Be holy, because I am holy'" (1 Peter 15-16).
Holiness is God's eternal purpose for his children. So when he has made us new creations in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), he has also created us to be like him in true righteousness and holiness (Ephesians 4:24).
But we know that it is very challenging to live a practical holy life in this evil and corrupt world. So how can we be holy in all we do?
First. we need to know that without God's help, we cannot live a holy life (John 15:5).
Therefore, we must depend on God to "make (us) holy in every way and keep our) whole being--spirit, soul, and body-free from every fault.." The God who called us to be holy is faithful and able to make this happen through his Spirit.
Second, we have to be intentional in pursuing holiness (Hebrews 12:14).
Depend on God in your pursuit of holiness.
