👉🏼 (Reading: 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8)

📜 """""For God did not call us to be impure, but live a holy life. Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.""
1 Thessalonians 4:7-8 (NIV)

📋 The Apostle Paul, in today's reading, gave certain specific instructions to the Thessalonians concerning how to live to please God. In the focus verse, he reminded them that God did not call anyone to be impure, but to live a holy life.

Anyone who rejected that instruction on sanctification did not reject man but God, who gave us his Holy Spirit. This means that rejecting Paul's instruction(s) amounts to standing against the Holy Spirit and rejecting the purity God requires of us.

God will judge and punish the disobedient, particularly, those who turn their backs on this standard of moral purity to satisfy their own desires and lusts (v. 6). It equally means that all who reject the truth and have delighted in wickedness--including some who are part of the church--will one day be brought to full accountability.

Those who are living in rebellion against God will be left behind when Christ returns for his faithful followers (v. 17). Their end will be destruction (5:3) in wrath (5:9). They will be judged and condemned (2 Thessalonians 1:9) when Christ returns from heaven "in blazing fire" to punish all those who "do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus" (2 Thessalonians 1:7-8).

Are you rejecting God by your lifestyle?
Repent before it is too late.

🔑 Key Lesson: Rejecting God's clear instructions is very dangerous.

🛐 Meditation and Prayer: Lord, help me to always accept your instructions.
