📜 ""...Is any merry? Let him sing psalms""
James 5:13 (KJV)

📋 The challenges of life can be so overwhelming that many people have lost their oy and don't seem to find reason to praise God. The Apostle James in our focus verse today declares: "Is any merry? Let him sing psalms."

As believers, after God has answered our prayers and delivered us from our afflictions granting us the desires of our hearts, we should respond in thanksgiving by singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.

Unfortunately, this is not the practice of some Christians. When they receive help from God they often forget to express their gratitude through songs of thanksgiving. However, when trouble strikes, they are quick to call on God for assistance.

The Apostle Paul tells us in Philippians 4:4 to "Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice" (KJV). This means that whether in good times or seemingly bad times, we are to be joyful. In this sense singing of psalms, hymns and spiritual songs must be done always.

However, because human beings by nature react to environmental conditions, people usually would not find reason to sing when they are down. Howbeit, what Apostle James encourages us to do should not be overlooked by any Christian-to sing when our hearts are merry. The songs we sing should align with Scripture, as found in the psalms.

Are you in a joyful mood?
Sing to praise God.
