👉🏼 (Reading: Psalm 5:1-12)
📜 ""Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice .. I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.""
Psalm 5:2-3 (NIV)
📋 God is our ever-present help in times of trouble, but he expects us to cry out to him for help when we face difficulties. In his times of trouble, David used to do exactly what God expected him to do: he often cried out to God.
An instance is captured in today's anchor text: "Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice … I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly."
Another instance is found in Psalm 40:1: "I waited patiently for the LORD to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry." Often, when we cry to God for help, we expect an instant solution to our problems.
But God doesn't always grant instant remedies for our challenges. We have to wait. David understood the need to wait patiently with hopeful expectation after praying for help; he stated: "…in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly."
Similarly, he says in Psalm 40:1: "I waited patiently for the LORD to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry."
Cry out to God in times of trouble but wait patiently and expectantly.
🔑 Key Lesson: When we cry out to God for help, we need to wait patiently with hopeful expectation.
