📜 ""The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul...""
Psalm 19:7 (NIV)
📋 Have you ever been under so much pressure that you even despaired of life? Many, if not all of us. have had such experiences before. Even our Lord Jesus was not spared. In a moment of extreme distress, he said: "... My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death" (Matthew 26:38).
The Apostle Paul also had a similar overwhelming experience: "We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself" (2 Corinthians 1:8).
When we find ourselves in very discouraging situations, the perfect remedy is the word of God because it has power to refresh our souls. In today's anchor text, David affirms: "The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul .." To refresh means to "give new strength or energy to; to reinvigorate."
God's word revives and strengthens us in our moments of weakness by giving us hope, encouragement, comfort, assurance, courage and confidence. How refreshing when we read texts such as Isaiah 41:10: "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
