👉🏼 (Reading: 2 Thessalonians 1:5-12)
📜 ""Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with him.""
2 Thessalonians 1:12 (NLT)
📋 When we, God's children, live as children of light in this dark world of sin, we bring glory to our heavenly Father. Our Lord Jesus says that when others see our good deeds, they will "glorify (our) Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:16). God is at work within us to do what is praiseworthy.
The Apostle Paul lived to glorify God and prayed for other believers to do the same. Note how he prayed for the Thessalonian believers: "So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call.." (v.11).
We need the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to be able to live a life worthy of our calling as God's chosen people. This kind of life involves devotion to doing what is good. All this is aimed at glorifying God. So Paul affirms: "Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honoured because of the way you live .."
As we glorify God, we are also honoured: ".. and you will be honored along with him." Seek to glorify God by demonstrating Christ-like character, attitude and conduct.
Do you intentionally do your best, through God's grace, to glorify the Lord's name?
Ask for God's power to accomplish the good things your faith prompts you to do for God's glory.
