📜 ""...honor those who are your leaders in the Lord's work. They work hard among you and give you spiritual guidance. Show them great respect and wholehearted love because of their work.""
1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 (NLT)
📋 Many church members take their leaders for granted; they neither honour them nor respect them. In today's anchor text. the Apostle Paul admonishes us to show the right attitude towards Christian leaders: "...honour those who are your leaders in the Lord's work. They work hard among you and give you spiritual guidance. Show them great respect and wholehearted love because of their work..."
Do you honour your church leaders? Do you recognise them as God's servants who give you spiritual guidance? Christian leaders (e.g. Pastors, Catechists, Evangelists, Presbyters) work hard in shepherding God's flock. They pend many hours studying God's word in order to guide God's people in the Christian life. They also invest their time in praying for the flock and they provide godly counsel to those who need guidance.
We can honour these hard-working leaders by appreciating their efforts either verbally or through gifts from time to time. We are encouraged to show God's servants "great respect and wholehearted love because of their work." We respect them if we hold them in high esteem and submit to their authority.
We can demonstrate our sincere love for them by taking good care of their needs and supporting them with prayers.
Honour and respect your leaders.
🔑 Key Lesson: It is proper to honour and respect God's servants.
