👉🏼 (Reading: Deuteronomy 13:1-5)

📜 ""... you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The Lord your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul.""
Deuteronomy 13:3 (NIV)

📋 The foundation of the believer's relationship with the Lord is his/her faithfulness to God and his revealed word.

Today's focus scripture teaches that the temptation to compromise our loyalty to God will at times come from those who appear to be spiritual. There are several ways that we find ourselves tested in this area to see where our true loyalty lies.

God will at times test the sincerity of our love and our commitment to him and his word. He may also test us by allowing us to be among people who claim to speak for God and who perform miraculous signs or wonders (v. 1-2).

Such individuals may speak under great anointing, prophesy the future correctly and perform miracles, signs and wonders. At the same time, however, they may preach a gospel that is contrary to biblical revelation, adding to or not teaching God's word in its fullness.

If we follow these false preachers, we will be led away from absolute loyalty to God and his inspired word. The New Testament also warns that false prophets and teachers will greatly distort the gospel of Christ in the last days.

Believers must, therefore, set their hearts and minds to remain faithful to God and his word.
