👉🏼 (Reading: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27)

📜 ""I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others, I myself might be disqualified""
1 Corinthians 9:27 (NLT)

📋 The Christian journey is likened to a race, where the ultimate prize is eternal life. Just as athletes train hard, make sacrifices, and forgo some pleasures to be able to win the race, Christians must train spiritually and exercise self discipline to attain an eternal prize.

In 1 Corinthians 9:24-27, the Apostle Paul emphasizes the importance of disciplining the body and mind to stay focused on the Christian journey. If an athlete could be dedicated to training, even with the challenges it entails to gain a reward that will not last very long, then Christians should be inspired to put in more effort for an everlasting reward.

In today’s world, if Christians do not discipline themselves, they will be distracted from the goal. Social media presents many attractive contents that can occupy you from morning till evening, leading you away from prayer and Bible study.

Sinful content is unavoidable even in seemingly righteous spaces, so Christians need to be disciplined and self-controlled to stay on the righteous path.

We must make intentional efforts to prioritize our spiritual growth, intensify prayers, be consistent with our quiet time and depend totally on the Holy Spirit because the times are evil.

How are you running the Christian race?
Discipline yourself to stay focused.
