👉🏼 (Reading: Romans 12:1-2)

📜 ""Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God -which is your spiritual worship""
Romans 12:1 (NIV)

📋 Traditionally, sacrifice means to give something costly to a deity or someone, involving denying oneself of the item offered. In this passage, Paul exhorts us to consider God's mercy and make ourselves a living sacrifice, willing to offer ourselves to God through living holy lives. To present ourselves a sacrifice to God, we have to depart from our old way of life (Ephesians 4:22-23).

Just as the Apostle Paul says, "No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I, myself will not be disqualified for the prize" (1 Corinthians 9:27), we must also discipline ourselves. Without self sacrifice, one cannot please God. That means we must no longer live for the world but for God.

Sacrificial Christian living has become a challenge to many because of the attractions of the world. Despite the challenges, we are called to please and honour God in all we do. The world will continue to deceive us, but let us remember the mercy of God.

Are you tired of living a holy life? Do not be tired of doing good, for at the right time you will enjoy the benefits.
Be a living sacrifice; God is always watching you.
