📜 "Help, O LORD, for the godly are fast disappearing! The faithful have vanished from the earth! Neighbors lie to each other, speaking with flattering lips and deceitful hearts"
Psalm 12:1-2 (NIV).
📋 The days we are living in are evil. Deceiving, defrauding, cheating, stealing, etc. have become the order of the day. In today's focus verse, David cries out with desperation to the Lord for help, saying: "Help, O LORD, for the godly are fast disappearing! The faithful have vanished from the earth! Neighbours lie to each other speaking with flattering lips and deceitful hearts."
What David observed in his generation is all around us today-the godly are fast disappearing!" Many members of our churches today live ungodly lives; they don't fear God. So they do the very things that God warns us not to do. For instance, they give and receive bribes, they engage in sexual immorality, they love money and use tricks to extort money from innocent people, etc.
God expects his chosen people to exhibit godly virtues such as love, compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience, righteousness, godliness, etc.
How many people are demonstrating these fruits of the Spirit today? It is hard to find faithful people in our churches today. There are many who are not faithful in many ways. Some people are unfaithful to their employers; some cheat on their spouses; others lie "to each other; speaking with flattering lips and deceitful hearts."
