👉🏼 (Reading: 1 Kings 22:4-28)
📜 ""And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, there is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Jehovah, Micaiah the son of Imlah: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.""
1 Kings 22:8 (ASV)
📋 We often find our views unpopular not because they are wrong but one among many ungodly people. It was Dietrich Bonhoeffer, writing from Nazi Prison who quoted Thomas Merton, the American Monk activist, "You are not big enough to accuse the whole age effectively, but let us say you are in dissent. You are in no position to issue commands, but you can speak words of hope..."
Like Micaiah, the only prophet with God's counsel in his time, we are overwhelmed by powerful but wrong voices. We see the majority buried in sin and we feel like an ant up against an army of elephants. We wish to be able to stop a culture full of injustice and corruption, but feel insignificant. We feel that our voice is too weak to silence or correct the loud wicked masses, but need to speak out anyway.
God is on your side; he in his time, vindicates those who follow his counsel.
Remain faithful to God though the whole world may follow the wrong path.
🔑 Key Lesson: God helps our weakest voice against the wrong loud majority, if we remain faithful to the end.
🛐 Meditation and Prayer: Lord, give me the courage to speak even when everyone else is shouting out the wrong thing. Make me faithful in all circumstances.
