Pleasing God: Walking, Working, and Remaining Consistent in His Will

Just as children in earthly families naturally seek to please their parents, we as children of God are called to please our Heavenly Father. Pleasing God is not a passive state of being; it is an active, deliberate lifestyle. The scriptures outline specific areas where our devotion must be visible, tangible, and consistent. Through this sermon, Prophet Chris highlighted three critical pillars of a life that pleases God: our walk, our work, and our consistency.

1. Our Walk With the Lord

The first pillar of pleasing God is our personal walk with Him. How we conduct our lives in His presence matters deeply. Prophet Chris reminded the congregation of God’s command to Abraham in Genesis 17:1: "I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect." A worthy walk is the ultimate evidence of our love and respect for the Father.

2. Our Work For the Lord

Pleasing God also demands that we actively work for Him. We are living in momentous times, and the return of Jesus Christ is drawing near. Therefore, our lives must be characterized by a burning zeal to propagate the Gospel and win souls for the Kingdom. Prophet Chris commended the men of the church for rising up during their celebratory week to do the work of evangelism, noting that the Great Commission is a responsibility laid upon every believer.

To work effectively for God, we must present our bodies as living sacrifices and refuse to conform to the patterns of this world. This work requires deep commitment and holy passion. In Psalm 69:9, the psalmist declares, "For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up." This same zeal must consume us today. We must adopt the urgency of Jesus, who declared in John 9:4: "I must work the works of Him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work." The "night" represents the times of physical weakness, old age, or the end of our earthly journey. While we have breath, strength, and opportunity, we must labor for the harvest.

3. The Power of Consistency

It is not enough to start well; we must finish well. Prophet Chris warned against the danger of spiritual inconsistency—being on fire for God today and cold tomorrow. A pleasing life is a consistent life. Addressing the spiritual drift that can easily happen, the Prophet referenced Paul’s stern words to the Galatians: "O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth... having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?"

We must guard against losing our momentum. In Revelation 2:4-5, the Lord issues a solemn warning to the church in Ephesus for leaving their first love, calling them to repent and return to their initial works. Consistency means staying dedicated through seasons of trial and triumph alike. Prophet Chris shared his personal testimony of over 26 years of constant, unwavering service in ministry, serving as an inspiring model of endurance for the congregation.

Scriptural Examples of Kingdom Workers

To illustrate the lasting impact of dedicated service, the sermon highlighted three powerful biblical examples whose works became eternal memorials:

• Cornelius (Acts 10:1-2): A devout man whose prayers and generous almsgiving rose up as a memorial before God, prompting a divine visitation that brought salvation to his entire household.
• Aquila and Priscilla (Romans 16:3-5): A committed couple who risked their lives for the Gospel and hosted a church in their home, earning the lifelong gratitude of the Apostle Paul.

As we contemplate our own journey, we must ask ourselves what legacy we are building. Every life on this earth is temporary, and we will all eventually complete our earthly assignment. The true measure of our lives will not be our earthly acquisitions, but what we did to advance the Kingdom of God. By investing our time, talents, and resources into the house of God—such as the ongoing building project at the Global Evangelical Church—we establish a lasting memorial that speaks for us and future generations. Let us rise today with renewed commitment, sowing our seeds of faith, dedicating our lives to His service, and ensuring that our walk, our work, and our giving remain well-pleasing in the sight of Almighty God.
