In a world often defined by logic and tangible evidence, the concept of miracles can seem like a relic of ancient history. Yet, for countless believers, the power of the divine to intervene in human affairs remains a vibrant and active reality. This profound truth was recently illuminated in a compelling sermon delivered by Rev. Ephraim Kofi Ameko at the Global Evangelical Church, centered on the theme: "Jesus Christ as the Agent of Miracles." His message resonated with the powerful conviction that God's hand is not only capable but actively involved in transforming the impossible into the possible, through the singular agency of Jesus Christ.
The Enduring Power of Miracles: A Sermon's Revelation
Rev. Ameko's sermon, delivered on June 14th, 2026, was a vibrant declaration that divine miracles are still actively happening today. Drawing from the foundational text of Luke 7:11-15, he emphasized that Jesus Christ is not merely a historical figure but the ultimate conduit of miraculous power. For believers, this means accessing a divine force capable of reversing even the most hopeless situations, bringing life where there was only death, and hope where despair had settled.
Anchored in Compassion: The Widow of Nain
The sermon's anchor was the poignant narrative found in Luke 7:11-18, recounting Jesus' visit to the city of Nain. There, He encountered a sorrowful funeral procession for the only son of a widow – a situation of utter despair, as the woman had lost both her husband and now her sole provider and comfort. This narrative serves as a powerful illustration of Christ's deep compassion, His immediate empathy for human suffering, and His ultimate, unchallenged authority to touch "dead" situations and bring them back to vibrant life. It's a testament to a God who doesn't just observe our pain but steps into it, ready to act.
Unpacking the Supernatural: Three Dimensions of Miracles
To deepen the congregation's understanding of how miracles manifest, Rev. Ameko meticulously broke down the concept using three distinct Greek terms, each revealing a unique facet of divine intervention:
Dunamis: The Explosive Power
The first term, "Dunamis," was described as an explosive, dynamite-like power. This is the dynamic ability to blast through seemingly insurmountable obstacles, to shatter limitations, and to bring something entirely new into existence out of nothing. It signifies a raw, unbridled force that can radically alter circumstances, creating breakthroughs where none seemed possible.
Semeion: The Indicative Sign
Next, "Semeion" refers to a sign or token that serves as an undeniable indicator to the world. A semeion proves to unbelievers, to skeptics, and even to experts, that the Kingdom of God is not just a theological concept but a present, active force. It's a visible marker, a divine signature that authenticates God's presence and power working within the believer and through the Church.
Teras: The Awe-Inspiring Wonder
Finally, "Teras" describes a spectacular event that causes utter amazement. These are the wonders that defy logic, that confound human understanding, and that leave experts and onlookers utterly astounded. A teras is designed to capture attention and evoke a profound sense of awe, pointing unequivocally to a supernatural origin beyond human capability.
Modern-Day Manifestations: Testimonies of Healing
To ground these powerful concepts in tangible reality, Rev. Ameko shared two compelling, real-life anecdotes of miraculous healing, demonstrating that Jesus remains the same yesterday, today, and forever:
"Dr. Jesus" and the Bloated Stomach
The first testimony involved a senior church member's husband, who was hospitalized with a severely bloated stomach. Medical specialists, baffled by the complexity of his condition, paused his care for the night, indicating the gravity of the situation. The church, however, did not pause its faith. They prayed fervently, believing in divine intervention. By the next morning, the man's condition had drastically and inexplicably improved, leaving the doctors completely baffled and without a medical explanation for his sudden recovery.
The Healing of an Unyielding Wound
The second testimony concerned a woman facing an expensive, 18-month medical treatment plan for a stubborn, unhealing wound, potentially cancer-related. This persistent ailment was a source of great distress and financial burden. After the church prayed with intense faith and symbolically applied the "blood of Jesus," a profound shift occurred. The wound, which had resisted all medical efforts, finally closed and healed completely, demonstrating the power of faith to override even severe chronic conditions.
Activating Your Faith: A Call to Supernatural Living
The sermon culminated in a passionate and empowering call to action, urging the congregation to move beyond mere observation to active participation in the miraculous. Rev. Ameko's challenge was clear: God's power is not distant but resident within believers through the Holy Spirit. However, this power requires the "agency of faith" to be ignited, to transform potential into manifested reality.
Igniting the Agency of Faith
Believers were encouraged to consciously activate their faith, recognizing that their connection to Jesus makes them conduits of divine power. This isn't passive waiting; it's active engagement with the spiritual realm, believing that what God has promised, He is also able to perform.
Speaking Life into Despair
A crucial aspect of this activation involves speaking life into what appears dead or dying. Congregants were encouraged to verbally command "dead" or failing aspects of their lives – struggling businesses, stagnant careers, poor health, broken relationships – to "come alive." This prophetic declaration, rooted in faith, is a powerful tool for inviting supernatural turnaround.
A Life That Amazes the World
The ultimate aspiration of the sermon was that members would experience interventions so profound that they would continually amaze the experts, colleagues, and skeptics in their respective fields. This call to manifest the miraculous is a testament to the transformative power available through Jesus Christ, challenging believers to live lives that are undeniable signs and wonders to a watching world. It is a powerful reminder that with Jesus as the agent, no situation is truly beyond the reach of a miracle, and every believer has the capacity to witness and experience the extraordinary, turning the ordinary into a canvas for divine intervention.
