👉🏼 (Reading: Psalm 22:1-5)
📜 "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning?"
Psalm 22:1 (ESV).
📋 While our Lord Jesus was hanging in absolute agony on the cross, he quoted our focus verse to demonstrate his human frailty at that moment. God was not far from our Lord Jesus, neither did he desert him in his pain, but was allowing Jesus in his humanity to fulfil his assignment.
In our lives, we always come to a place of pain, disappointment, fear and anxiety that we wish we were not left in. Although we go through dark moments, the good news is that God is always near those
whose hearts are towards him. Although God is far from the wicked and godless, he is always close to those who love him.
The person who knows how close his God is to him is always assured in his faith that God will never let him or her down. Are you discouraged, worried and do feel forsaken? Remember that God is near. Say it to yourself many times; "my God is faithful, loving and caring. He has not abandoned me, he will never forsake me when I am in trouble".
Do not ever think that the Omnipresent God, the immanent helper, is far away from you and has forsaken you in your trouble. Keep your hope in God who will never let you down.
🔑 Key Lesson: God does not forsake those whose heart is towards him.
🛐 Meditation and Prayer: Lord, thank you that you are always near and not far from me. Help me to know that I am never forsaken.
