👉(Reading: Jeremiah 17:1-5)
📜 "This says the LORD: "Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the LORD" Jeremiah 17:5 (ESV).
📋 Godly persons must live by their faith in God. Not doing so is a curse. The text reminds us of God's warning to the Israelites before they entered the Promised Land. The Prophet Jeremiah sums up in his description of a cursed person; "He is like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see any good come. He shall dwell in the parched places of the wilderness, in an uninhabited salt land" (Jeremiah 17:6, ESV). Have you placed your confidence in people, things or connections? Before God, you are doomed. Doomed because all who trust in something other than God are under a curse. Verses 1 and 2 of our text points to how our children remember our monuments and places we have called sacred but do not have any memory of God and his faithfulness towards us. Stop looking at how much you have, who is behind you and what makes you feel secure. Let God be your strength and light, so you fear nothing. Let God stand tall in your imagination and learn to lean totally on this great God who will never fail you. Make him your hope and confidence.
🔑 Key Lesson: We are doomed if we put our trust in human but ignore God.
🛐 Meditation and Prayer:Lord, help me to always put my trust in you and feel secure because I am yours.
