👉🏼 (Reading: 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8)
📜 ""Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus to live in a way that pleases God, as we have taught you. You live this way already, and we encourage you to do so even more.""
1 Thessalonians 4:1 (NLT)
📋 As God's children, we ought to live in a manner that pleases our Father. That is the kind of life the Apostle Paul lived and taught others to live. In 1 Thessalonians 2:10, he testifies about his own godly life: "You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous and blameless we were among you who believed."
In today's focus verse, Paul urges believers to pursue a godly lifestyle that pleases God: "Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus to live in a way that pleases God, as we have taught you. You live this way already, and we encourage you to do so even more."
Paul makes it clear that godly living should not be for just a period in our lives. Rather, it should be a life-long pursuit in which we strive to please God more and more. Paul teaches us that in order to please God, we ought to be holy (v.3). This means that we must avoid sin, especially all kinds of sexual sin.
A holy person does not engage in fornication, adultery, homosexuality, masturbation, etc. We ought to understand that "God has called us to live holy lives, not impure lives" (v.7).
So, resolve to live to please God.
