This is the list for those who must finish well, live long, enjoy good health, and carry great attributes. Welcome to this glorious service on the 2nd of August, 2026, here at the Global Evangelical Church, Mamprobi. As we gather under the leadership of our preacher, Rev. Ephraim Ameko, let us prepare our hearts for a word that will transform our eternity. Let us pray as we briefly take in the Word of God.
Father, we thank You for this moment. Speak to us; our hearts are ready to receive the seed of Your Word. Lord, let this Word challenge us and bear much fruit in our lives, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen!
Tell yourself: "I will leave here with much more fruit—fruits of blessing, fruits of the Spirit, and every good fruit of life." Hallelujah!
Today's Message: Is Your Name in the Book of Life?
Ask yourself, ask your friend, ask your brother: Is your name in the Book of Life? It is not always a convenient question to ask, nor is it an easy answer to give. But as a pastor—and for whoever you are—this is a far-reaching statement you must take to heart. You must think about it day and night. Our anchor scripture today is taken from the book of Revelation, which paints a vivid, sobering picture of the final judgment that awaits every soul.
The Scripture: Revelation 20:11-15
The Word of God declares: "Then I saw a great white throne and Him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from His presence... And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books... Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. Anyone whose name was not found written in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire."
1. Hell is Not the Final Destination
When we talk about Hell (or Hades), it is important to understand that it is not the final destination. Hell is essentially a holding place—a remand center. Right now, if a soul is in Hell, they are serving a sentence in a spiritual prison, awaiting trial. But after the final judgment, Death and Hell themselves will be thrown into the Lake of Fire. The Lake of Fire is the ultimate, absolute destination. It is the second death, from which there is absolutely no appeal, no bail, and no escape. Once a soul is cast into that eternal flame, no power from the pit of Hell can ever influence anything on earth or heaven again.
2. Earthly Registries vs. The Book of Life
Throughout our earthly journey, our names are written in many different books and registries over which we have very little control. From the moment you are born, the Birth Registry captures your arrival; your parents chose your name, and a nurse wrote it down, sometimes even misspelling it. Later, you find your name on School Registries and WASSCE records, tracking your academic achievements. As a citizen, the National Identification Authority holds your details in the national database. Finally, when your time on earth is done, your name is entered into the Death Registry. But while you have little say in these earthly books, there is another book—The Book of Life—and you have absolute influence over whether your name enters it.
3. You Cannot Buy Your Way In
In our world today, systems can be bypassed. We hear of nations where you can practically buy citizenship for millions of dollars. As long as you have the cash, you are in. But in the Kingdom of Heaven, there is no bribery. No amount of cash, earthly influence, political connection, or human energy can get your name written in the Book of Life. The standard of God is so incredibly high that no human being could ever meet it on their own merit. Because we couldn't meet this perfect standard, God stepped in with grace. Jesus Christ came down, met the standard for us, and laid down His life on the cross. Now, He says, "On My account, you can enter." When you accept Christ with all your heart, your name is written in that Book of Life!
Faith Requires Action: We Will Be Judged by Our Works
Let me ask you a practical question: If you gain admission to a prestigious university, register your name in the official records, and immediately go back home to sleep for four years, are you truly a student? If you never attend lectures, never do the assignments, and just assume you will get a first-class degree because your name is in the registry, you are deceiving yourself! The same applies to our faith. Writing your name in the Book of Life is just the beginning of a new journey. You cannot accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and then go back to dining and wining with the world.
Look closely at what Revelation 20 tells us. First, books were opened—plural. These are the records of our daily deeds, our thoughts, and our actions. Second, another book was opened—singular—which is the Book of Life. Third, the dead were judged according to what they had done. It is not enough to claim your name is in the Book of Life; your daily walk must align with the registry of heaven. How are you living your life? You cannot destroy yourself with alcohol, immorality, or worldly obsessions, and claim everything is fine just because you made a confession years ago. Your secret life, your relationships, and how you treat your spouse and children are all being recorded. On the Day of Judgment, earthly luxuries and hidden secrets will not hide us from the eyes of the Creator.
A Prayer of Salvation
If you are reading this today and you realize that you have not truly accepted Christ, or if you have drifted away from the path of righteousness, do not rely on your own strength. No human being with flesh and blood can meet God's standard alone. Jesus met it for you, and He is ready to write your name in His book today. If you want your name written in the Book of Life, please pray this prayer with sincerity:
"Dear Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I know that I cannot meet the standard of God on my own, but Lord Jesus, You met it for me. I accept You today. Come into my heart, forgive me of all my sins. I surrender my heart to You. Be the Lord and Savior of my life from today onward. Thank You, Jesus, for saving me. I am born again, and my name is written in the Book of Life. In Jesus' name, Amen!"
As we step boldly into this new month of August, let us carry this eternal perspective in our hearts. Let the reality of the Book of Life guide your decisions, your words, and your actions every single day. Live with the joyful confidence that you belong to Him, and let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the sweet fellowship of the Holy Spirit rest and abide with you now and forevermore.
