📜 ""In Joppa, there was a disciple named Tabitha (in Greek her name is Dorcas); she was always doing good and helping the poor""
Acts 9:36 (NIV)
📋 A good name is better than riches. A good name is earned through the good deeds a person has done throughout his/ her life. As followers of Christ, we should strive to cultivate a good name rather than pursue wealth, which, when not well handled, leads to the destruction of the soul.
Our actions should always reflect kindness and integrity, allowing our good works to speak for us. Today's reading references Tabitha, a woman known for her acts of kindness and her dedication to helping people experiencing poverty. Her reputation brought her a good name among the people.
One day, Tabitha fell ill and died. However, because of her good deeds, the people were reluctant to bury her immediately. They sent a message to Peter, asking him to come. When Peter arrived, they showed him all her good works.
Moved by what he witnessed, Peter prayed for Tabitha, miraculously raised her back to life and presented her to the disciples. Without her good deeds, she would have been buried without anyone attempting to assist her.
If we also commit to doing good, our acts of kindness will speak for us in the future.
There are people around us we can do good to, and our deeds do not necessarily have to be big or in cash.
Do you strive to do good always?
🔑 Key Lesson: Our good deeds speak for us.
