👉🏼 (Reading: Psalm 14:1-7)
📜 ""All have turned away, all have become corrupt
there is no one who does good, not even one""
Psalm 14:3 (NIV)
📋 We were all helpless sinners now saved by grace.
We were once slaves to sin, satisfying the desires of our sinful nature and following the ways of the world and Satan. We turned our backs on God. The Prophet Isaiah writes: "We all, like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way .." (Isaiah 53:6).
In today's focus text, David also declares: "All have turned away, all have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one." Not even one of us is righteous before God. Because we "all have become corrupt," our self-efforts at being righteous is an exercise in futility. Isaiah paints a grim picture of the miserable condition of unsaved sinners: "All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags .." (Isaiah 64:6).
Our so-called righteous acts are tainted with selfish motives.
Therefore, no one can be saved by self-righteousness. Sinners can only be saved by God's grace through faith in Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9). The moment we truly believe in Jesus, we are declared righteous in God's sight.
This is what the Apostle Paul affirms in Romans 3:22, when he writes: "This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe…"
Are you relying on self-righteousness for your salvation?
Believe in Jesus to receive God's gift of salvation.
🔑 Key Lesson: Helpless sinners cannot save themselves by self- righteousness.
