📜 "From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I"
Psalm 61:2 (KJV).
📋 In this life, we sometimes go through very severe trials and troubles. Also, there are times when our expectations and hopes are not met in the way we desire. We get perplexed. Deciding becomes difficult when we are emotionally overwhelmed by these adversities.
In today's focus verse, the Psalmist teaches us the secret to restoring our joy during tough times. He encourages us to pray to God for guidance to
find the right source of help. He wrote, "… when my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I."
We, too, must learn to pray for God to lead us to that higher rock, which is the Lord Jesus Christ. When God directs us to Jesus, he lifts our burdens and helps us through our difficulties. On the cross of Calvary, Jesus overcame sin and defeated the devil. He encouraged his disciples not to be afraid of anything because he had overcome the world on their behalf (John 16:33).
This is our joy and comfort that when we are overwhelmed and perplexed, we can find peace for our souls in Christ. We receive answers when we approach him in prayer, and our joy of salvation is restored.
