📖 A TIME OF REFLECTION AND REPENTANCE

📖 A TIME OF REFLECTION AND REPENTANCE

👉🏼 (Reading: Matthew 9:9-13)

📜 "I have come to call not the righteous, but sinners to repentance"
Matthew 9:13 (NIV).

📋 Lent is a sacred time dedicated to deep reflection, prayer, and repentance. It is a season to pause and examine our hearts, turning away from distractions and seeking a renewed connection to God. Throughout his ministry, Jesus called sinners to repentance not to condemn, but to offer them restoration. This season mirrors that call, inviting us to humbly return to God, acknowledging our need for his mercy. The 40 days of Lent parallel Jesus' 40 days in the wilderness, a time when he fasted, prayed and resisted temptation. It is a time for us to follow his example, seeking spiritual renewal through prayer, fasting, and introspection. Lent is not simply about giving up something, but about intentionally turning away from the things that pull us away from God and focusing more on him. Whether it is a habit, a distraction, or an attitude, Lent offers the opportunity to let go of anything that hinders our relationship with Christ. As we journey through Lent, let us examine our lives, asking forgiveness in areas where we have fallen short of God's standards. It is also a time to pray for strength to walk closer to him and to grow spiritually. Lent ultimately prepares our hearts for the joy of Easter, as we reflect on the sacrifice of Christ and the new life he offers. Reflect on your closeness to God today.
